The gameplay is based on a clever mix of different turbos that are activated by jumping in front of a springboard, using the turbopads scattered here and there on the racetracks, and mastering the rather unique CTR skid system. Remember the basics: CTR Nitro-Fueled is a Mario Kart racing game where you can find boxes here and there to equip you with offensive or defensive weapons. Gamepad in his hand, the player also has to fight for his money with a gameplay always nervous and nerve wracking. It will take practice to master Power Slides and their intricacies. Gameplay: Discovery of the Little Arena Unmatched Gaming Fun Note, however, that owners of Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro are eligible for a 4K ad (or an adjacent PS4 Pro ad). But the PS4 and the one? One wonders what could have led to such a result. On the other hand, we had the right to expect more from a cartoon-style running game that will be released in 2019. In absolute numbers, playing at 30 frames per second means no impact on the game experience, as the game is absolutely fluid. A difference that we do not really explain, especially when we know that the Switch Mario Kart 8 easily runs at 1080p / 60 fps, just like the PS4 and with Gran Turismo Sport or Forza Motorsport 5, 6 and 7. On the other hand, hard to understand why the game only runs at 30 frames per second, whether on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch. The coding is not perfect and feels a little bit. The few cut scenes in solo mode are recorded videos. Beenox has done a great job and from this point of view Nitro-Fueled offers everything you would expect from a CTR remaster. Special mention should be made of the Pyramid Papu, Arena Tiny or Air Track racetracks, which take full advantage of this scalpel setting and are more elegant than ever. Spectators, wild animals, fireworks … There is a bit of everything and the least we can say is that it is successful: CTR Nitro-Fueled is just beautiful. While some stretches are less vivid than those of a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, most are filled with small details that did not exist before. It is not only technically beautiful (textures, lighting effects …), but also the artistic direction has been modernized and enriched with intelligence. By reusing the technologies used in the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro compilations published over the last two years, the retinal CTR is flattered by the most carefully updated circuitry. We had already discussed this during our preview, but our test session confirmed our first impressions: Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled offers a living tribute to the original game. The visual world of the game has been reworked with great talent. All that remained was to know if the studio could reproduce the same magic that allowed the N.Sane trilogy or the Spyro Reignited trilogy to seduce the players. Activision is probably thrilled with the success of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy and has started the development of a remake of Crash Team Racing and entrusted Beenox. Unfortunately, the license had fallen into a deep sleep after a few less successful suites, much to the desperation of the fans. And to everyone's surprise, the result of their efforts was of remarkable quality: funny, nervous and very complete, Crash Team Racing has established itself as one of the main games of the last years of PlayStation life. Of course, the Sony PlayStation had to offer their Mario Kart-like, and it was Naughty Dog who was stuck. The success of Super Mario Kart and even more Mario Kart 64 produced a wealth of more or less inspired clones in the second half of the 1990s.
